About Jay's Deli
JAY’S Opened ON PORTRETO HILL ON MAY 31, 2007,Since then, our small, friendly establishment on the corner of 20th Street and Connecticut Street has been warmly embraced by the diverse people in our neighborhood as a meeting place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special food/wine tasting events.
WE ARE VERY EXCITED THAT JAY’S WAS NAMED AFTER OUR 4-YEAR-OLD SON, who has inspired us in so many ways. One of them is by bringing you the best quality food. We have also joined S.F. Green Business and are working with the City to implement the best environmentally friendly and sustainable operation that we can. We're offering quality, all natural meats, organic produce and other natural products.
Our goal is to convert the entire building to solar energy, use all recyclable products and compost the majority of our waste. Meanwhile, we’ll offer you continued friendly service and fair prices. The result, we believe, is the best the Bay Area has to offer in all aspects of food and wine, with a little influence from my husband Allan’s homeland in New Zealand.

Our family believes in giving back to the community. On July 16, 2005 we organized a tree planting through Friends of the Urban Forest and planted over 30 trees on the hill! We are also co-founders of a non-profit foundation, L.Y.N.C., along with Ezra Holland, which enables at-risk youth to experience the wilderness, adventure and sports training that they would not otherwise be able to experience, and we will look forward to having volunteers participate in our activities throughout the year.
